For twin brothers, Julian and Daniel Theis, expansion of their landscaping and forestry business was made possible following the purchase of a Kobelco SK55SRX-6. The addition of the mini excavator to their fleet of machines has enabled them to diversify; the duo now offers a rental service to agricultural and construction contractors, as well as provide operator services.

In 2016, Julian Theis took the leap to become an independent gardener and landscaper. Once his business had been established, he quickly realised that there was a huge demand for subcontracting machinery, so in addition to offering the usual gardening and landscaping services, he began providing agricultural and construction machinery and operator rental services. As Julian has various driving qualifications, including a class CE (truck and trailer) licence, he is able to cover a wide range of tasks.

In September 2020, Julian expanded his team further with the addition of a garden and landscape builder, Julian’s brother Daniel, who is on the road managing and executing the construction sites parallel to the company’s current activities. Due to the continued growth of the business, the company invested in a Kobelco SK55SRX-6 mini excavator. They will also soon take delivery of a SK28SR-6E.

“I have already noticed the enormous lifting capacity of the SK55SRX-6 in comparison to competitor machinery,” explains Julian Theis. “Even after 18 months of ownership, I have still not been able to find a comparative machine in the same tonnage class – it is able to lift loads that a much bigger six tonne excavator can handle.”

First launched in 2014, the SK55SRX-6 was Kobelco’s first mini excavator to be released in Europe that was equipped with the innovative iNDr (integrated Noise & Dust reduction) technology. First seen on the larger SR class of Kobelco construction machines, this superior method of dust filtration, combined with exceptional engine cooling, promotes environmental well-being and reduces engine noise output to a new level, making the SK55SRX-6 perfect for urban work.

“I also like the simple daily maintenance of the SK55SRX-6,” continues Julian. “The air filter and oil level can be checked quickly without much effort. The machine also provides more than the necessary comfort on the construction site with the air conditioning and the radio that come as standard.

“We can completely rely on our Kobelco SK55SRX-6 excavator; whether for the excavation or the necessary installation of the ballast, the setting of the wall stones or the digging of the pipe trenches. That’s why my next excavator will also be a Kobelco. If you buy a Kobelco excavator once, you will always buy Kobelco. The best technology ensures the best work results and leads to happy and satisfied customers.”

Julian consulted Kobelco authorised dealer, Thomas Baumaschinen, in the purchase of the SK55SRX-6. “We worked with Max Thomas at the dealership, who is very professional, but also empathic,” he explains. “We were able to talk to Max about our requirements and he understood our needs from the beginning. In addition, I think the mechanics have very good technical knowledge and practical experience. All in all, Thomas Baumaschinen is a very down-to-earth managed company, which makes for a great working relationship.”
